Art

We had to do art based on Miranda Jane Caird art we took our own view and made it into a pastel drawing it was really fun to do. Miranda Jane Caird's work is very unique and interesting. She likes to work with her art in very different was and her art is very expensive. Here is some of my and her work.

Pendulum Painting

Science Report Pendulum Painting

Aim/Hypothesis:
Our hypothesis was that it was going to be easy to make a pendulum painting device. Our aim was to make one.
Equipment:
  • 2 chairs
  • 1 ruler
  • paint/flour/sand
  • water
  • 1 funnel
  • String
  • Sellotape
  • 1 cup
  • Large paper
Method:
Tape the ruler to the two chairs and tie the string to the ruler. If you are using paint block the end of the funnel and put the paint and the water in. Tape the string to the funnel (you will need to have two bits of string to keep it straight). Put the piece of large paper underneath the two chairs and pull and release the funnel. If you use sand or flour use that instead of the paint and water.
Results:
First we tried using paint but it didn’t work because it was too watery. So we tried again but the hole was too small. So the paint was to thick to fit threw the hole or we are just unlucky. We tried to make a bigger hole and the paint was still to thick. So we tried flour and it didn't go through the funnel so we gave up.
Conclusion:

In the end our hypothesis was wrong and we didn’t achieve our aim nothing worked. Maybe next time we could plan more and come up with a better mix.

Snow Camp

Three weeks ago Te Kinga and Kotuku went on a snow camp by Authurs pass and Mt. Cheeseman. The first day we went to Authurs pass to a lodge the lodge was fun, but we had to play very weird games which were called " team building games." I cant explain the first game in text because its just to weird. We had to build the tallest tower out of noodle straws and marshmallows. In my team i was the oldest but i had the strongest and tallest tower and i was very lucky to build the tallest tower. There was another game where you had to have a ball on your stomach and i was with Toby and everyone knows that Toby is short, so it was very hard for me. The second day we had to stay for a while at the lodge because the road was closed to Mt. Cheeseman. When we got to the mountain we were in a day lodge and the day lodge was like the hangout area and the noise area so we could go there and do stuff. We had very nice food and we had lots of fun i really hope we can do it again ( or a school survival camp would be fun to).
